Enhance your Tibetan Buddhist journey with our new series of study courses

At Kechara, we believe that knowledge is the first step towards finding happiness and peace. With knowledge, we develop wisdom; and with wisdom comes the clarity and ability to face any situation in the most positive and beneficial way. Thus, we place great emphasis not only on the attainment of knowledge but more importantly, on gaining the depth of understanding to put it into practice.

Inspired by H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche‘s vision to create an international centre of spiritual learning, we are happy to announce our new educational programme — a series of study courses — commencing October 2017.

Quality Spiritual Education

Our courses are based on the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism which emphasises academic study as the foundation for luminous wisdom, and are taught by experienced practitioners who have received extensive teachings from Rinpoche and other senior scholars. Course topics and curriculums have been carefully curated to equip you with the knowledge and skills to enrich your spiritual journey, whether you’re a new or seasoned practitioner.

Classes are conducted in small groups to ensure that you and every other student receives personalised guidance and spiritual advancement. You can also look forward to hands-on learning experiences amidst the lush greenery and modern amenities of Kechara Forest Retreat, located just five minutes outside Bentong Town, an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur.

Courses are open to the general public. We welcome everyone who wants to discover how authentic Buddhist teachings can help you #BeMore.

From mixing the ingredients and shaping the tormas to creating intricate decorations and delicate “butter” sculptures, this course will provide the knowledge and skills you require to produce the ultimate food offerings for the Buddhas.

RITUALS 101

This introductory course lets you explore the powerful rituals and symbolic systems of Tibetan Buddhism according to the tradition and lineage of Gaden Monastery. Apart from a range of altar setups and proper offering methodologies, you will also gain practical hands-on knowledge and skills in using various ritual implements including the vajra and bell, damaru, kapala, bumpa, serkym, Dzambala set and mandala.

*Participants are required to bring their own set of ritual instruments.

RITUALS 102

This intermediate level course allows you to learn advanced ritual practices such as the playing of traditional Tibetan musical instruments including the ritual cymbals, drums, conch shell and thighbone trumpet. You will also gain hands-on experience in tsa tsa making and the traditional filling of Buddha statues and stupas.

*Includes mantras, holy items and other statue-filling ingredients. Participants are required to bring their own statue (max 12″).

PUJAS 101

Meaning ‘to praise’ in Sanskrit, pujas are an integral part of Tibetan Buddhism and when done correctly, bring a multitude of benefits. This course covers the foundational pujas of the Gaden tradition from their origins and benefits to the visualisations, ritual instruments and traditional melodies. You’ll master the profound practices of Gaden Lhagyama, Medicine Buddha, Tara and Dorje Shugden and learn how to apply them for better living within your busy schedule.

*Participants are required to bring their own set of ritual instruments and a copy of ’Diamond Path’

PUJAS 102

In this intermediate puja course, you’ll learn how to harness the power of your mind, improve health and circumstances, and gain powerful protection against unforeseeable situations through the rituals of Manjushri, Kalarupa, Dukkar, White Tara and Yellow Dzambala.

PUJAS 103

Master the Lama Chopa Guru puja and the medium-length fulfilment ritual of Dorje Shugden, possibly two of the most essential pujas in the Gelug tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. You’ll discover the meanings and intricacies of these two rituals, including visualisations, ritual instruments and traditional melodies, and how they can offer mind and life transformations.

EIGHT VERSES OF MIND TRANSFORMATION

Unlock your full potential and gain control over the inner workings of your mind. Through this guided meditation course on the ‘Eight Verses of Mind Transformation’, you’ll learn applicable techniques to awaken your inner spirit, practise compassion and loving kindness, and create harmony with everyone you come into contact with.

EXPERIENTIAL LAMRIM

The Lamrim or “graded path” is the backbone of Buddhist practice in the Gelugpa tradition and includes all the essential teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni arranged in a step-by-step, logical roadmap.

This experiential Lamrim course combines intensive study of the key Buddhist text ‘Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand‘ with guided meditation sessions and facilitated discussions to enable you to develop a deep understanding of Buddhist principles and a firm foundation of practice on the Vajrayana path.

*Includes vegetarian lunch. Participants are required to bring their own copy of ’Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand’

Powerful Dukkar or White Umbrella Puja “To cut asunder completely all malignant demons, to cut asunder all the spells of others…to turn aside all enemies and dangers and hatred...” Dukkar manifested from the crown of Buddha Shakyamuni as a personification of Buddha’s victory umbrella, and is commonly regarded as the female counterpart to Avalokiteshvara (Kuan Yin), the Buddha of Compassion. https://www.vajrasecrets.com/dukkar-puja-fund-for-legal-affairs, shared by Pastor Antoinette

A Slice of Heaven "Sponsor a lot of land in the Kechara Forest Retreat, which will go towards the cost of the land and the facilities being built therein. Your support will help make this meritorious project a reality. Contributing to the building of a monastery or a place of worship is a very meritorious act, as taught by the Buddha and many ancient masters that came before. As the Buddha described the benefits of building monasteries to King Sangyal, he taught that people who build monasteries will always have incredible wealth and power in future lives, and will eventually attain enlightenment. The great Indian yogi, Nagden Pawo also said that anyone who contributes to the building of a Buddhist institution, no matter how small that contribution is, even if it is just requesting others for donations, continuously collects tremendous merits even as they go about their daily lives". https://www.vajrasecrets.com/slice-of-heaven-fund - shared by Pastor Antoinette
