Datuk May commissions the construction of KFR

Two days after the official announcement that the Kechara Forest Retreat (KFR) was back on track by Datuk May Phng, she arranged for a meeting with the consultants to commission the construction of the buildings at KFR.

In attendance were Datuk May Phng, Dato’ Ruby Khong, the KWPC team (Martin Chow, Joe Ang and Khoo), the architects, the engineer and the planners for the whole project.

At the meeting, the architect presented the artist’s impression of the main prayer hall, which was beautifully illustrated. Situated beside a man-made lake with tall floor-to-ceiling glass panels, the prayer hall has a sleek, modern and contemporary design with a slight infusion of Tibetan influence.

The group also discussed plans to incorporate an aviary near the prayer hall and another at the ladrang area.

At the end of the meeting, Datuk May gave the go ahead for the engineer to conduct the soil investigation of the land before the start of construction. Also, she gave the instruction to start the tender process to select the contractor.

As the physical development of KFR is finally beginning, funds are urgently needed. KFR is for us. Let us all join together to help to raise the much needed funds to ensure that the development of this project is successful and sustainable.
