Kechara Forest Retreat Day Tour: 10 May 2014

Kechara organizes half day tours to the Kechara Forest Retreat once a month for anyone interested to participate. Many guests take this opportunity to bring their families and friends to visit our retreat centre and to experience for themselves the vision of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche.

The most recent tour took place on Saturday, 10 May 2014, and we had the pleasure of hosting two guests from Japan who have been residing in Malaysia for the last three years. The tour departed from Kechara House at 8am after the group was given a brief introduction of Rinpoche’s biography, the Kechara organisation and an overview of Tibetan Buddhism. For many guests, it was eye-opening to learn about Rinpoche’s unfortunate childhood as well as the broad range of services that Kechara offers. Most of our guests learned about Kechara through our vegetarian restaurant (Kechara Oasis), or our retail outlets (Kechara Paradise), located in 1Utama, SS2, Sunway Pyramid and Viva Home.

Pastor Adeline captivated our guests with tales of Rinpoche

Upon arrival at the Kechara Forest Retreat, the group, led by Pastor Adeline, made a quick stop at the foot of Medicine Buddha Hill – an upcoming project with the Kechara Forest Retreat envisioned to be an international healing sanctuary, the first of its kind in the region. (To learn more about this project, visit the Kechara Forest Retreat website.)

The tour itinerary encompassed all the main areas of interest within the Kechara Forest Retreat, including Rinpoche’s first cabin, Manjushri Hill, Wisdom Hall, the Aviary, the Herb Garden and Dukkar Apartments. As always, Manjushri Hill remained a firm favourite with the guests.

The magnificent statue of Manjushri is one of the main highlights for guests to the Kechara Forest Retreat.

Manjushri represents transcendent wisdom which cuts down ignorance and duality. It is a common practice for visitors to circumambulate Manjushri’s statue three times while reciting Manjushri’s mantra “OM AH RA BA TSA NA DHI” to receive his blessings.

Paying homage to Manjushri

Manjushri’s mantra has tremendous benefits; practitioners who recite his mantra daily have reported improvements in their memory and concentration; the elderly have experienced a slowdown in their memory deterioration; even parents bring their children to pay homage to Manjushri.

The tour ended with a delicious lunch specially prepared with care and love by Kechara’s volunteers. One of our guests left this message for us:

…we fully enjoyed and appreciated everything offered during the tour. We really would like to participate in other activities and workshops again sometime….

Powerful Dukkar or White Umbrella Puja “To cut asunder completely all malignant demons, to cut asunder all the spells of others…to turn aside all enemies and dangers and hatred...” Dukkar manifested from the crown of Buddha Shakyamuni as a personification of Buddha’s victory umbrella, and is commonly regarded as the female counterpart to Avalokiteshvara (Kuan Yin), the Buddha of Compassion. https://www.vajrasecrets.com/dukkar-puja-fund-for-legal-affairs, shared by Pastor Antoinette

A Slice of Heaven "Sponsor a lot of land in the Kechara Forest Retreat, which will go towards the cost of the land and the facilities being built therein. Your support will help make this meritorious project a reality. Contributing to the building of a monastery or a place of worship is a very meritorious act, as taught by the Buddha and many ancient masters that came before. As the Buddha described the benefits of building monasteries to King Sangyal, he taught that people who build monasteries will always have incredible wealth and power in future lives, and will eventually attain enlightenment. The great Indian yogi, Nagden Pawo also said that anyone who contributes to the building of a Buddhist institution, no matter how small that contribution is, even if it is just requesting others for donations, continuously collects tremendous merits even as they go about their daily lives". https://www.vajrasecrets.com/slice-of-heaven-fund - shared by Pastor Antoinette
