First Official Pilgrimage Tour to Kechara Forest Retreat

Good news! Kechara has begun its official Pilgrimage Tours to the Kechara Forest Retreat. The first official tour took place on Saturday 12th October. The day began early at 7.30am for the 42-person strong group with a briefing and introduction to His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche at Kechara House in Petaling Jaya. Breakfast and drinks were provided during the bus journey to Bentong, whilst Rinpoche’s teaching on the importance of pilgrimage were screened.

Upon arriving at the Kechara Forest Retreat the pilgrims were given an explanation about the current projects at the front of the retreat land – an eco village – and also of the Medicine Buddha hill that is located adjacent to the main prayer hall.

Following the explanation, the first stop for the pilgrims was Manjushri Hill, where pilgrims had an audience with the magnificent 9ft tall stone Manjushri. Here the pilgrims were able to circumambulate the Buddha of Wisdom 3 times while reciting his heart mantra. They were then guided to the sublime Lama Tsongkhapa statue at the front of Wisdom Hall, where they were made prayers for wishes to be fulfilled while offering candles. Once inside Wisdom Hall, pilgrims made khata offerings to His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s throne.

The group were then led in a short 15-minute relaxation meditation by Pastor Adeline Woon, Senior Education Executive and one of Kechara’s Board of Directors. This group was the first to participate in such a meditation session in Wisdom Hall. How wonderful! The group then proceeded to the Wisdom Hall dharma shop to make offerings to His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche along with a heartfelt personal message.

Next, the pilgrims visited the Flea Market at the Gift Room, where they were able to invite precious items that were donated by Rinpoche from his personal collection at lower than 70% of their market price! After this was a tour of Dukkar Apartments, starting with an audience with the awe inspiring Dukkar statue. They were then invited to the lounge to watch a talk on Kechara Forest Retreat by His Eminence, followed by a question and answer session.

Then pilgrims were led to visit the aviary, an unscheduled stop but one that was advised by His Eminence that this group of pilgrims should visit. The aviary houses birds that have been rescued and is usually off limits to visitors. After a group photo in front of the Lama Tsongkhapa statue, the group left for lunch in Bentong and then returned to Kechara House in Petaling Jaya.

Of the 42 pilgrims, 2 had come all the way from Singapore and had flown in the night before especially for this first pilgrimage tour of the completed first phase of Kechara Forest Retreat. For more information regarding Kechara Forest Retreat and its development please click here.

The next pilgrimage day tours to the Kechara Forest Retreat scheduled for the last quarter of 2013 are on the following dates:

Powerful Dukkar or White Umbrella Puja “To cut asunder completely all malignant demons, to cut asunder all the spells of others…to turn aside all enemies and dangers and hatred...” Dukkar manifested from the crown of Buddha Shakyamuni as a personification of Buddha’s victory umbrella, and is commonly regarded as the female counterpart to Avalokiteshvara (Kuan Yin), the Buddha of Compassion. https://www.vajrasecrets.com/dukkar-puja-fund-for-legal-affairs, shared by Pastor Antoinette

A Slice of Heaven "Sponsor a lot of land in the Kechara Forest Retreat, which will go towards the cost of the land and the facilities being built therein. Your support will help make this meritorious project a reality. Contributing to the building of a monastery or a place of worship is a very meritorious act, as taught by the Buddha and many ancient masters that came before. As the Buddha described the benefits of building monasteries to King Sangyal, he taught that people who build monasteries will always have incredible wealth and power in future lives, and will eventually attain enlightenment. The great Indian yogi, Nagden Pawo also said that anyone who contributes to the building of a Buddhist institution, no matter how small that contribution is, even if it is just requesting others for donations, continuously collects tremendous merits even as they go about their daily lives". https://www.vajrasecrets.com/slice-of-heaven-fund - shared by Pastor Antoinette
